Saimaa is the lake system that defines Finnish Lakeland — a maze of islands, canals and small towns, and the home of the Saimaa ringed seal. It is a different trip from Helsinki or Lapland: slower, wetter and built around boats.
Tours run in summer from Savonlinna, Lappeenranta and the lake harbours, with seal-watching, castle visits and cottage-country days the usual formats.
